About this solar and battery referral service

Who runs Byron Bay Solar, what happens to your enquiry, and how to check a NSW electrical licence and SAA accreditation before a solar or battery job.

Byron Bay Solar is an enquiry and referral website operated by Yes Right Pty Ltd, ABN 91 664 546 061. You describe your home, your roof and the solar or battery work you have in mind, and the details go to an independent local provider who can assess the job and decide whether to quote it.

This site is not a solar retailer, an electrical contractor or an accredited installer. It does not sell panels, inverters or batteries, and it has no workshop, staff installers, reviews or completed projects of its own. Pictures on the site show the type of equipment discussed, not a job arranged through this website.

What happens after you send an enquiry?

  1. You fill in the enquiry form with your suburb, contact details and a description of the job.
  2. Your details are passed to an independent solar and battery business that works in your area, so it can respond to you.
  3. That business contacts you, may ask for photos, a power bill or a site visit, and gives you its own written quote if it wants the job.
  4. You decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is booked or agreed by sending the form.

The provider may pay Yes Right Pty Ltd a referral fee. That fee does not change what you are quoted, and you are free to get other quotes. Availability and response times are set by the provider, not by this site. The privacy notice explains how your enquiry details are handled and how to ask for them to be deleted.

What is the provider responsible for?

Everything about the work itself sits with the business you engage: the system design, the quote, the contract, deposits and payment terms, product and workmanship warranties, the grid connection paperwork with Essential Energy, and any claim for the federal small-scale technology certificate discount. Ask for the scope in writing, including the panel, inverter and battery models, the usable battery capacity, what the discount is worth and how it is applied, and what happens if the roof or switchboard needs extra work.

The services guides and the Byron Bay area page explain what a typical job involves so you can compare quotes on the same basis.

How do you check a solar or battery installer in NSW?

Solar and battery work in NSW involves electrical wiring, which needs an electrical licence or certificate regardless of the cost of the work. To be eligible for the federal discount, the person who designs or installs the system must also be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia, which took over that role from the Clean Energy Council on 29 February 2024. Accreditation is held by individuals, not companies, so ask for the name of the person who will be on site.

What to check Where to check it
NSW electrical contractor licence Service NSW licence check
Installer or designer accreditation SAA accreditation status check
Battery on the approved list Clean Energy Council approved batteries
How the battery discount works Cheaper Home Batteries Program

After an electrician finishes wiring work in NSW, they must lodge a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work with Building Commission NSW, as set out on the NSW electrical compliance page. Ask for your copy and keep it with the warranty papers.

Limits of this service

Do not use the form for an emergency. If you smell burning, see smoke or sparks from an inverter, battery or isolator, or a storm has damaged the array, keep clear and call 000 if anyone is in danger, then contact your electricity distributor. Enquiries from Byron Shire and nearby parts of Ballina Shire are welcome, but whether a provider can take on a job depends on that provider.

Next step: what to put in your enquiry

A provider can only judge a job from what you send. When you fill in the Byron Bay solar enquiry form, give your suburb, the type of job (new panels, a battery, an inverter swap, a repair, cleaning or an upgrade), the roof material and number of storeys, the make and model of any inverter already on the wall, and a photo of the meter box. If the job is a fault, add what the inverter screen or app shows and when the problem started.
